Brandee Snedicor, OMT

I practiced dental hygiene for eighteen years before becoming a myofunctional therapist. It wasn't until my oldest daughter was diagnosed with orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) that I became aware of orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT). When I learned about OMDs, I not only discovered that I had many of the symptoms associated with these disorders as well, but my youngest daughter did too, and I had to explore it more. Myofunctional therapy has been in practice for over a hundred years but is not as well known throughout the United States. Proper tongue placement, and evaluation for tongue restrictions are not routine examinations performed in the medical/dental evaluations.  Low resting tongue posture and tongue restrictions are just a couple of the OMDs that if left untreated can directly or indirectly affect: breathing, sleep apnea, TMJ pain, and more. We experienced many of these symptoms and finally had a solution to chronic conditions that other therapy was unsuccessful with.

After gaining awareness of myofunctional therapy, I became passionate about helping others in their health and wellness journey. I completed my training in myofunctional therapy in 2023 and became a certified OMT. I am excited to continue to learn and grow in this emerging field of medicine and help others experience the benefits of improved health as I have.

The 4 Goals of OMT

Nasal Breathing

Nasal breathing is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health and well-being. Nasal breathing filters and warms the air we breathe which protects our bodies from toxins., pollutants and allergens. Nasal breathing also supports optimal facial skeletal growth and development.

Proper Tongue Placement

Supports optimal facial skeletal development, improved quality of sleep, nasal breathing and more

Lip Seal

Helps normalize breathing,  and looks more esthetically pleasing.

Correct Swallow

Helps with jaw stability and proper muscle function.

Our expertise

At Myofunctional Therapy Solutions, we specialize in treating OMDs. Orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) is a series of therapeutic exercises designed to enhance normal function of the head, mouth, and neck muscles. We teach clients how to breathe, chew, and swallow correctly and eliminate habits that may cause these disorders.  This treatment consists of a regular program of exercises over a 6-12 month period and we see children ages 5 and up. Often times multiple family members will benefit from therapy and we offer group therapy options when appropriate. Our initial assessment will give us a more individualized approach for your care.
