Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a series of neurological re-education exercises used to treat incorrect patterns of muscles and functions associated with breathing, chewing, and swallowing.

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) are disorders of the muscles and functions of the face, neck, and mouth. OMDs may directly or indirectly affect sleep apnea, breathing, chewing, swallowing, breastfeeding, facial skeletal growth and development, the stability of orthodontics, posture, and more.

There is a wide range of symptoms associated with a tongue-tie. People who are tongue-tied are often mouth breathers and have a low resting tongue posture. Other symptoms may include chronic jaw pain, clenching and grinding, sleep apnea, orthodontic issues, and improper facial development.

This is a minor surgical procedure to release the frenum, giving the tongue full range of motion and helping to correct muscle function.
